I have know John Lynn for a number of years and always enjoyed his wit and wisdom. I was so happy to see he wrote a book about MongoDB and that he tackled the Aggregation Framework. I am a novice with MongoDB so I learn by example. I like to set up the samples and let them run and make my own variations. He walks you through a logical progression of the features and at the end you say that was easy. But then you have to reflect how you progressed and never really struggled. If you are interested in this topic and you want to learn without banging your head against the wall get this book.Good Job! Looking forward to your next work.

As I said the exampes are quite good.....
This is a great read for anyone looking to understand the Aggregation framework. While it doesn't cover the full extent of the framework (how could it p) it does provide great samples of some of the most useful pipeline operators out there.
Very good. The only problem is this ridiculous kindle app. It would be much better to have the actual PDF so I could use a decent software to make notes. Anyway, good book !
I learn best from examples and this book delivers. Mr. Lynn could rarely be accused of rambling as each operator is quickly explained and then used in practice. I was a bit concerned about the example formatting on my Nexus 7, but the query structure held up well. I highly recommend this book as a painless no-fluff introduction to a powerful MongoDB feature.
I'm learning mongoDB and this was a very useful book for experimenting with and using the aggregation framework.
I built a small app that uses the Northwind Traders database presented in this book .

until I picked up this booklet. Lots of Ah-Ha moments and a straight forward approach as to the thought process required. Recommend highly, well worth the $5-spot
In the great tradition of the old O'Reilly NutShell Handbooks, this little book focuses on one particular aspect of the MongoDB feature-set, and does so succinctly and clearly. Excellent coverage presented with examples in "byte-sized" portions. Just the right size, just the right information.
